Why would we need the sea when we have Zagreb? Summer in Zagreb is definitely not the worst thing that can happen to you, because even at +30 degrees the gentle breeze from mount Medvednica, the vibe of the city and the awesome cultural offer make summertimes in Zagreb memorable ones! Every day there is something new on the table. From theaters and open cinemas, open air festivals, art and street art, music evenings and concerts, workshops to beautiful nature retreats. Zagreb offers something for every taste, and most of it for free. Here are just a few suggestions. For many years, Zagreb has hosted several internationally renowned summer festivals, primarily the “INmusic Festival” and “Animafest”, the worldwide animated film festival, both of which you can catch in June. Some of the city’s other standard events now include “Summer on Stross”, a two-month music program at the Strossmayer’s Promenade and so-called “Courtyards”, that turn beautiful Upper Town courtyards into cafes and places to socialize. There is also “Cest is d ‘best” street art festival, “Zagreb Classic”, classical music festival, “Art Park”, “Pop-up Summer Garden”, “Fantastic Film Festival”, “World Literature Festival” and “International Fireworks Festival”, among many others. Every year, something new and exciting pops up, so be sure to check out and keep an eye on the Zagreb Tourist Board website (https://www.infozagreb.hr/events#not- miss) that closely follows every event this summer and the following ones. Zagreb also has its standard retreat, in the form of beautiful nature and wonderful excursions in the surroundings. For a bit of forest, cooler air be sure to head to Maksimir Park, walk alongside one of its five lakes and visit the Zagreb Zoo. Climbing Mount Medvednica is sure to be pleasant when you reach the top, feel the breeze and have a well-deserved drink in one of the mountain huts. Jarun and Bundek lakes are also good places for relaxation, enjoyment and sport, or you can also cool down in one of the five swimming pools of Zagreb. Whatever you decide, there is always shade, cold drinks and culture and fun in every corner of Zagreb, so with this offer we can only ask ourselves: “Why would we want to be anywhere else, when we have everything here?”
